Well, hello there! Aren't you looking beautiful today?
Welcome to the first episode of 2018! [Music] Whatup guys! Jordy here for cinecom.net and today is Creative Tuesday, this is the series where we share creative tips and tricks to help you make better videos http://crystallball.org/. Today we are at Basketball Sensation, a basketball event, and I have 5 tips for you, to film a sports event. So, let's swing into it! Sport is about action, a lot of movement from the players... ...so it's a good idea to increase the speed of the shutter. This has various effects. First of all, we are reducing the motion blur. Since the players move around so fast, there's a lot of motion blur. Sometimes too much. So, that's why we wanna reduce that by increasing the speed of the shutter... ...and thus making your shots seem a bit sharper. The next reason is to create a harder and a more realistic look. This definitely works well for things like a boxing game. This was also done in many war films, such as Saving Private Ryan. By having a faster shutter speed, the blood and the explosions became sharper, thus the entire look of the film was more grungy. I can also suggest to shoot at a higher frame rate if you're camera can do that. Slow motion emphasizes detail, which is great to attract interest to a certain movement from a player. Now, slow motion doesn't always have to be applied on action. It sure is cool, but it can also be used to emphasize an emotion. Just the look of a defeated player can be so strong in slow motion. But make sure that you are also adjusting your shutter speed here... ...if you would like to keep that hard look. If you're shooting at a higher frame rate, you must also set your shutter speed faster. Now, I've got four more awesome tips for you guys, but first... ...let's thank Rocketstock who is sponsoring today's episode. They've came out with a brand new pack called Fume, which is a collection of more than 150 smoke and fog effects, which you can use in any editing software to add a great dynamic depth to your films. And you can even use this for sports games as well. There might be some creative scenes, like here where the players are being introduced. I added a bit of smoke in postproduction, which came out great. Now you can find out more about this video pack by following the first link... ...in the description below. Tip number 2, your sports video is probably not about the sport. It's all about the event, all the activities there, the people. Make sure to get enough shots of the fans, the coaches, the sponsors... ...who are very important, the dancers, if there are any, etcetera. What I would suggest is to talk to the organization first and ask them... What is important to you and who here present is important? It's better to have too much shots than not enough. My client asked me to shoot these interviews of some important people. I couldn't directly see how I would implement that in the edit, but maybe we can use a small part from it or use it in a separate video. It means a lot to the organization and you will get appreciated for that. Tip number 3: get into the action. Don't just pick a seat between the audience and shoot the rest of the evening from there. Get as close as you can to the action. And that way, you're involving your audience a lot more into the game. Now, close ups are great, they show detail. But you have to zoom in for that, meaning that you're filming again from a distance. Try to shoot many wide shots as well. That way the audience can really relive that great day again. Also change your position often, it makes your edit a lot more dynamic... ...if you have many variations in camera position. Now, sometimes it's not that convenient to get so close to the action. What you can then do is put some shots in scene before or after the game. This allows you to go on the field and... ...you might be able to use those shots in between or as a great intro. Tip number 4: highlights. These are different for every sport. For a soccer game, the highlights are the goals because there just aren't so many. At a basketball game, goals are made all the time... ...so the highlights could be something different that doesn't happen so much, for example, a dunk. So, try everything you can to get your highlights. And that might require you to setup a second fixed camera on the goal, or taking some time to wait for your highlight to happen. Now, when I'm filming, I'm constantly looking around... ...to see where I need to run to or what my angle should be. This is so that I don't miss my highlight and also... ...that I don't bump into any players because I'm standing so close to the field. I would also suggest not to do anything too crazy with your camera movement. If it failed, you also missed your highlight. Keep your creative camera movements for the rest of the event, which is my last tip. Sport games are fun and full of action, so make sure that your videos show that as well. Be creative with camera movement. You know, film handheld or use a gimbal or steadycam. This way you're much more mobile and you can spin your camera around. This is also great for camera transitions, where you make a certain movement on the end of a shot... ...and continue that movement on the beginning of your second shot. Connecting these two together creates stunning transitions. You can also go for transitions in post production, or other visual effects. Just make sure that you don't exaggerate. Avoid having your video look like a 90's Powerpoint presentation. If you shoot slow motion, definitely play around with the speed ramping. This means that you're speeding up and slowing down specific parts in your edit. And if you would like to see how to do that inside Premiere Pro, you can actually follow the card up there for a dedicated tutorial. Now, the edit of the sport video is not done yet, but when it is we'll add it to the blog post of this video... ...which you can also find a link to in the description below. Thank you all so much for watching, and stay creative!

So that they can sell you their junk. It's called the American economy. And it's based on hedonic substances, substances that drive pleasure, rather than happiness. And in the process, we have become most decidedly unhappy.
And the problem is you can't fix a problem unless you identify what the problem is. That's the reason for this book. - In the title of the book you use the word hacking. This sounds pretty dark and conspiratorial. Do you really think that there's been a plot to control our minds https://casinoslots-ie.com/euteller? - So let's first of all, I define the word hack. So hack has a relatively short history. The very first time the word hack was used, other than in a butchery, was in 1955, when it was used at MIT, the Model Railroad Club, to talk about a unusual solution to a complex problem, and that's what it meant for quite a while. An example, stealing a car is a felony offense. Stealing a Boston police car, dissembling it, carrying each piece up five floors to the great dome of MIT, reassembling it, and putting a mannequin of a Boston police officer, with a box of donuts in the front seat, that's a hack. Over the course of the next several decades, the word hack became synonymous with clever approaches to complex computer problems, which we now call white hat hacking, which is very prevalent and common here in Silicon Valley. But in the process, we also now have black hat hacking, as we learned during the 2016 presidential election when the Russians hacked Hilary Clinton's emails. - So then, black hat hacking is, can you define that? - So it's a malevolence, in an attempt to basically blackmail or to cause the crashing of a computer. To wipe out a hard drive, so clearly not something good. And the question is, how can your brain be hacked? And the answer is, well it doesn't get hacked with computer code but it gets hacked with false information. And in fact, we've had false information since the time of the Romans, it's called propaganda. So what's the difference between marketing, which is what companies say they do, and propaganda? And the answer is the truth, that's the difference. When companies express a point of view that furthers their goals, then that point of view references true facts, that's called marketing. When a company expresses a point of view and tries to advance its goals based on misinformation, that's called propaganda. So the difference between marketing and propaganda is the truth. The corporations of America today have engaged in a very specific attempt to market their propaganda in order to get us to do different things than we might otherwise have done. Examples, the easiest one of course is food and the one that I've written about previously. The idea that foods can be healthy, goes back a long way, in fact not eating food, is not healthy, it's called starvation. The question is which foods are the ones that ultimately lead to health? And the answer is not the ones that the food industry has touted. In fact, we have the data that demonstrates that they knew what they were doing. When we went low-fat in the 1970s, The Sugar Association knew what it was doing. In fact, there is a now paper trail of the communications between The Sugar Association and two Harvard school public health scientists, to specifically exonerate sugar and finger saturated fat as the culprit for our cardiovascular disease debacle. Turns out, we now have the data to show that that was completely untrue, that we have actually experienced an increase in obesity, cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes, hypertension, lipid problems, cancer and dementia because of our processed food diet, which we were told was healthy. And they knew, back in the 1970s that that was not the case. That's black hat hacking. (Relaxing piano playing) - Hi, my name is Ashley Mason and I'm an assistant professor of psychiatry at UCSF and I'm here with Rob Lustig who is a neuro-endocrinologist here at UCSF as well. And today we're talking about his new book, called The Hacking of the American Mind. So, Rob, why don't you start by telling us what the book is about in a way that folks without a medical degree would understand. - Ashley, I wrote this book because we've suffered a crisis in our culture, and I believe it comes down to a mistake that we've made between the interpretation of two of our most important and positive emotions, pleasure and happiness. Lot of people equate the two.
But I'm here to tell you that they are completely different. Lot of people they're exactly the same. In fact, on the internet, you can find definitions that actually conflate and confuse the two. So what are the differences between pleasure and happiness? And I believe there are seven. Pleasure is short-lived, happiness is long-lived. Pleasure is visceral, happiness is ethereal. Pleasure is taking, happiness is giving. Pleasure can be achieved with substances, happiness cannot be achieved with substances. Pleasure is experienced alone, happiness is experienced in social groups. The extremes of pleasure all lead to addiction, whether they be substances or behaviors. Yet there's no such thing as being addicted to too much happiness. And finally, number seven, most important, pleasure is dopamine and happiness is serotonin. Now these are two biochemicals. These are two neurotransmitters. These are two chemicals that the brain makes and uses to communicate between one neuron brain cell and another. Now, why do we care? So what? Well, turns out dopamine excites the next neuron and neurons when they're excited too much, too frequently, tend to die. So the neuron has a defense mechanism against that. What it does is it reduces the number of receptors that are available to be stimulated in an attempt to try to mitigate the damage. - When you say to be stimulated, you mean to be excited? - To be excited, that's right. And so we have a name for that process, it's called down regulation. And a lot of different chemicals in the body do that. Now, you get a hit, you get a rush, the receptors go down. Next time, you need a bigger hit to get the same rush, 'cause there are fewer receptors to occupy. And you need a bigger hit, and a bigger hit, and a bigger hit until finally, taking a huge hit to get nothing. That's called tolerance and then when the neurons start to die, that's called addiction. Serotonin however is inhibitory. It's not excitatory. It inhibits its receptor to provide contentment, to zen out if you will. So you can't overdose the serotonin neuron. - And what does it mean to inhibit a receptor? - What it means is it binds, but it doesn't activate the process beyond the receptor. So, what it does, is it basically slows down those neurons, instead of causing them to fire up. And in doing so, you end up with the process of contentment, that feeling of one with the world, if you will. That thing we call happiness. Now, there's one thing that down regulates serotonin, dopamine. So the more pleasure you seek, the more unhappy you get. And, Las Vegas, Madison Avenue, Wall Street, Silicon Valley, and Washington DC, have very specifically and in a coordinated fashion, confused and conflated the term happiness with the term pleasure. So that you can buy happiness. In 1942, after hundreds of years of persecution and abuse, the US government legally defined the “federal Indian trust responsibility.” It was a pivotal time in history when the US Government, building upon previous court rulings, officially took moral responsibility for the plight of Native Americans. Since then there have been many other acts intended to improve conditions for indigenous populations. The question is what has the US done and is it working? For the most part, Native Americans have access to free medical care. There are also scholarships and loans specifically for them and unique financial opportunities.
In the 1980’s, the Supreme Court ruled that in states where some form of gambling is legal, be it something minimal like Bingo or horse racing, tribes in those states can operate casino like halls and gaming activities on their reservations. According to the National Indian Gaming Commission, casinos now gross about 28 billion dollars annually and have stimulated job creation and population growth. The US Justice Department is also now allowing some tribes to grow and sell marijuana. These policies are intended to help combat poverty and other socio-economic problems. But as of yet there is little proof that they’re working. In 2012, those who identified exclusively as Native American or Alaska Native, had a poverty rate of almost 30 percent. And Native American and Alaska Natives are more at risk for substance abuse, gang-involvement, mental-health issues, child-victimization and suicide. Before Obamacare, many free clinics for Native Americans did not provide a full array of services, and 30 percent of Native Americans remained uninsured. Casinos also have a spotty record. According to the Native American Rights Fund, “Gaming on Indian reservations has not appreciably lowered the high levels of poverty on Indian lands nationwide.” Some even argue that casinos have created a false perception that Native American communities are getting rich, which can be detrimental to fundraising efforts for much needed relief services and community development projects. Tribal leaders are also hesitant about the new policies surrounding the growth and sale of marijuana. According to one representative, “Indian tribes have been decimated by drug use. Tribal regulations of pot are going to have to dovetail with tribal values, making sure marijuana isn’t a scourge like alcohol or tobacco.” Native American communities are still among the poorest in the United States. This is largely the residual effect of hundreds of years of persecution at the hands of the Government, including some mistreatment that is still on-going. And many see it as a problem that cannot be solved through more lenient gaming or narcotic laws. So briefly, here are a few key elements of Death Wish In the centre of the table. Are the available diseases in the game, and players are essentially competing with each other to contract them All.
Diseases have a level of damage and rarity as well as special requirements that must be met in order to catch them. When a player has collected a total of 10 disease skulls or more, they are considered dead and they have won the game. The diseases are always shifting and changing as new cards are added or removed by players. So it's important to be quick and tactical. Firstly, all diseases have a number in the corner. This represents, the number of symptoms required that match the colour of the disease Players collect these coloured symptom cards in their hand, They can range from bum boils smelly feet, a bloated head, hair loss or even rectal bleeding. Secondly, you need one afflicter card that also matches the colour of the disease. Affliction cards are the `` how'' you caught it, so these can include anything from eating dog, poop, kissing, a zombie eating old, sushi or even sleeping with a mermaid. Everybody can see each other's affliction cards, so they provide a pretty good indication of which diseases people are going for. So once you have the correct matches of symptoms and affects, you can contract a disease and share your weird combination to the group casino bonuses New Zealand. An example would be. I contract Sniffles because I kissed a dog: I'm suffering from meat, cravings, numb feet bad breath and flatulence There's over 220 cards in Death Wish and each is unique, making the possible combinations pretty vast. It doesn't end there. Many diseases are more potent, than others and contain a special outbreak symbol If you're lucky enough to get one of these pick up and read out an outbreak card, These cards are designed to help you and also disrupt the dynamic of every game. Some examples include puking, sneezing, shocking someone back to life becoming contagious or even mutating diseases. It creates that extra bit of interaction and the ability to screw your friends over While it's fantastic and fun creating a game. It'S a whole different kettle of fish, making this available to the public. It'S been a tough few months of concepts, prototypes playtesting coding and obtaining manufacturing quotes, But I'm happy to finally say I'm ready to focus on the next stage crowdfunding. This is where I hope you lovely people on Kickstarter can help If the project is pledged. I can finally mass produced the finalised version of the game and put this crazy thing in people's game collections To get backers involved. I'M also reserving disease cards for your own ideas. I will provide the means to submit your own disease name suggestions, anything from the rude to the silly. I would love to get your input for the game. So what are you waiting for? Are you dying to win? I'Ve been waiting to say that. John Dos Passos was a reporter of sorts. His wealthy lawyer/lobbyist father waited for a divorce from his first wife before he could begin a new family with little Johnny. But it was never quite picture perfect–John remained an outsider, and thankfully so.
I read The 42nd Parallel a couple of months ago. Dos Passos wrote 1919 in 1932, two years after completing his first installment, and The Big Money four years later. Although these novels comprise a trilogy, I feel it’s appropriate to space out my reading of them–it helps to see Dos Passos’ development as a writer. The Modern Library ranked this masterpiece twenty-three on its list of best novels, although I may dare to put it higher on my personal list of classic literature. Its scope is expansive. It delves deep into human psychology, captures the essence of the historical moment, and alludes to a wide range of events, ideas, and definitions–Dos Passos’ vocabulary is huge, he frequently creates words by fusing them together, without hyphenating as you would a kenning. He’s clearly a modernist, as exemplified by his use of stream of consciousness which bookends each chapter, but the actual headlines in “The Camera’s Eye,” and the myriad subjectivities he explores, places him at the forefront of great American writers. His historical integrity can be seen in the New Journalism of postmodernism, and as such, I think we can uphold his style with Hemingway’s blunt fierceness and Fitzgerald’s poetic romanticism as a major current in the deep waters of American literature. Written by: Tiffani Hopkinson You may be surprised to know that many topics and events used in online gaming are influenced by real life events. A number of messages actually make people more aware about the current situations in the world today. You can significantly develop skills and approaches that will ultimately make you respond better to your surroundings and other people.
Strategies and Resources Strategy and role-playing games help you think critically and employ the right strategies to come up with solutions using the proper resources and within the provided time range. Usually, games start with a limited map wherein you move around and expose formerly hidden areas. In life, you can compare the same scenario as you move around different places and settings. You can then gain access to new resources, potentially good locations and unique people. Knowing your way around your environment is important to get the best deals and know whom to trust. You will be given a variety of choices when playing strategy and mobile casino games such as the selection of skills, upgrade of attributes, formation of parties, purchasing or trading of items and prioritization of missions. You can apply these in real life similarly. You will realize that every task or type of work requires the right amount of skills and training for one to be competent.
